Concentrix Solar installs new tracking system
13 May 2009
A new tracking system, installed for the first time by Concentrix Solar, was implemented into its concentrator power plant as part of the ISFOC project in Puertollano, Spain.
The tracking system comes from its partner and investor Abengoa Solar.
The system was customised especially for use with FLATCON modules from Concentrix Solar.
According to the company, the FLATCON system achieves a nominal AC system efficiency of 23 percent under full operating conditions in the field. The modules installed achieve efficiencies of over 27 percent and the solar cells used achieve efficiencies of 36 percent, respectively.
It added that ISFOC confirmed a nominal power of 13.3 kilowatts (kW) for the new tracking system in March this year.
In Puertollano, 11 such systems are presently in operation. In total, Concentrix Solar installed 38 systems over a three-month construction period. Twenty-seven of the systems are equipped with trackers from the company Pairan. The 11 Abengoa systems have a nominal power of 143 kW and are equipped with the new CX-75 modules from Concentrix Solar. With this new tracking system, the power per installed unit could be more than doubled.
According to the company, 38 systems from Concentrix Solar, totaling a power of 300 kW, were the first units to be completely installed on the second building site in Puertollano, where 1.3 megawatts (MW) are to be installed in total. The project has a volume of almost 8 million euro and is 65 percent financed by the European Union.
