Cool Earth Solar applauded for its efforts
21 September 2009
Livermore, California-based CPV technology company Cool Earth Solar has been chosen by AlwaysOn as a GoingGreen Top 100 Winner.
The chosen ones have excelled in key strategic areas in the global clean energy technology markets. Companies were selected on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialisation, stakeholder value and media buzz. GoingGreen 100 Overall Winner was solar thermal company BrightSource Energy. Judges considered the breakthrough potential of companies’ technology, market size, management team, and investors. In some cases, companies still in the start-up stage were also chosen.
For its part, Cool Earth Solar says its solution has two main advantages. First, its CPV technology addresses the limited availability and cost fluctuations of solar cells. Second, the use of reflective thin films to concentrate the sunlight reduces by an order of magnitude the amount of material and the weight required for a CPV system.
