GreenVolts enhances its technology
18 February 2009
GreenVolts says it has come across a new technology opportunity that will allow the CPV technology company to make its CarouSol even more efficient.
Changes to CarouSol will lead to a more efficient, more reliable and resulting lower cost system. Further details at this point of time aren't being disclosed. The building block of the solution is the CarouSol, a 3 kW two-axis tracker, onto which multiple Power Pack units are mounted.
GreenVolts, which was scheduled to deploy the first phase of the GV1 plant in late 2008, with the second phase of the plant to be deployed by the end of 2009 as per its agreement with Pacific Gas & Electric, told CPVToday.com that the site is progressing well.
"We have a number of modules deployed and tracking on-sun to produce real-time data. One of the more encouraging aspects of GV1 is that we have uncovered a compelling technology opportunity that will allow us to make our CarouSol even more efficient, quicker than expected," GreenVolts director of marketing and communication, Michael Goldberg told CPVToday.com.
"We are adjusting our timeline now to accommodate that change as we want to put as many of the next generation CarouSols into the project as possible. Between the new technology deployment and a conservative schedule change given the pressures of the economy on the industry as a whole, we are targeting a completion date of mid-2010," added Goldberg.
