Soliant opens pilot production facility
11 September 2009
Soliant Energy has opened its new pilot production facility. Located in Monrovia, California, the facility is capable of producing 1 MW of solar panels annually.
The pilot production line will enable the company to plan out equipment and process needs for full-scale production scheduled for 2010. It will add up to 40 new staff.
According to Soliant, its panel is specifically designed for the commercial rooftop market. The company has focused exclusively on commercial rooftops in hot, dry and sunny locations. Its patented technology includes proprietary integrated dual-axis tracking to produce maximum power up to 14 hours a day. The company says its field-proven materials and components are efficient, compact and lightweight. Installed less than two feet tall, the SE-500X generates 369 watts at peak with Soliant’s proprietary high-powered receiver and fresnel lens. And Soliant’s TipTilt Tracking system tracks the sun’s movement throughout the day within 1/10 of one degree precision.
