SolFocus shifts its focus to commercialisation

Following the recent deployment of its first commercial CPV plant, SolFocus, Inc. has announced a shift from R&D and product development to commercialisation and volume deployment phase of its business.

The development was marked by an expansion of the leadership team, with SolFocus appointing a new president in Mark Crowley.

Acciona ends the first half of 2008 with E1.35 billion in EBITDA
Acciona has posted 1.349 billion euro in EBITDA in the first half of this year. The EBITDA is 180 percent more than what the company had managed in the same period of 2007.
 
Acciona said the sharp rise in EBITDA was mainly due to the contribution from its Endesa stake as well as from its energy division.

New HCPV plant being set up in Taiwan
A newly set up company is gearing up for a highly-concentrated photovoltaic (HCPV) plant in Asia.
 
As per the information available, Everphoton is building the pilot III-V solar system. The 1-megawatt (MW) project is due to begin construction by the end of 2008.

Q-Cells silicon supply agreement with BSI/Timminco extended
Solar cell manufacturer Q-Cells AG's existing solar grade silicon supply agreement with the Canadian company Bécancour Silicon Inc. (BSI) has been formally extended for 2010 through 2013.
 
Under the terms of the agreement, BSI, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Timminco Ltd, will supply 6,000 metric tons silicon per year between 2010 and 2013.

Sunflower becomes the first CPV system to achieve UL Listing

Underwriters Laboratories (UL) has issued UL Listing for Energy Innovations' Sunflower solar concentrator system.
 
Referring to the significance of the certification for its flagship product, the company stated that Sunflower is the first and only CPV system with UL Listing as no other product has managed to gain the same.
